Who is Roy?

Roy Thompson entered the world of model railroading following a distinguished career in the Royal Canadian Air Force.  He was the promoter behind the formation of the TECO train shows and swap meets in the Colorado Springs area for many years, and as one of the primary vendors of new and used model trains, he found more and more people were interested in having him bid on purchasing their collections, dismantled layouts, or estate items of interest to other model railroaders.

Roy’s swap meet appearances were extremely well received, and his reputation as a buyer began to outpace the successful show sales. Something had to be done. That and several other factors in the Colorado Rocky Mountain area presented even greater opportunities in the model railroad hobby so in 2017 Roy and his wife Margit opened Roy’s Model Trains. Roy’s shop quickly became the largest model railroad shop in Colorado Springs, offering hobbyists one of the largest collections of new, used and OPP (out of production) model railroad equipment available nationwide.

The shop and Roy’s personal commitment to the hobby is a welcome addition to the world of model railroading.
